The Chorale’s 62nd season takes off in December with THE CHRISTMAS TRUCE, a pair of performances commemorating the 110th anniversary of an extraordinary moment of solidarity and humanity during World War I, when soldiers on both sides lowered their weapons, exchanged seasonal greetings, and sang carols together. First performed by the Chorale to honor the centennial in 2014, the program features readings of letters from WWI soldiers who experienced this momentous gesture of compassion, intertwined with festive carols that the soldiers would have shared with one another during that serene pause of conflict. Through this project, the Chorale plans to partner with local ROTC programs and also renew its collaboration with City Lights Theater Company of San Jose who is in parallel reviving its play Truce: A Christmas Wish for the Great War.
