2017-2018 Concert Season

Picture
Bavaria and Beer
Join us for songs of conviviality and making merry, featuring Edward Elgar’s Scenes from the Bavarian Highlands, “In Taberna” from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, and a selection of music from around the globe for raising glasses in toasts and voices in song!
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2017 at the Santa Clara Mission

Gloria!
Celebrate the holiday season with Antonio Vivaldi’s beloved Gloria, the centerpiece of our holiday concert. Two modern and compelling works, Ola Gjeilo’s Luminous Night of the Soul and Eric Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs, enhance the holiday repertoire. Traditional carols encourage the audience to join in the holiday spirit. A perfect way for the whole family to kindle the spirit of the season.
Both concerts will feature the San José Chamber Orchestra Quartet.
DECEMBER 8, 2017 and DECEMBER 10, 2017 at the Santa Clara Mission

Bach: St. John Passion
One of the masterpieces of the baroque repertoire, Johann Sebastian Bach’s St. John Passion features Grammy-Winner Dann Coakwell as the Evangelist, soprano Jennifer Paulino, counter-tenor Dan Cromeenes, bass Patrick Walders, and the combined forces of the Santa Clara Chorale, the Santa Clara University Choirs, and the San José Chamber Orchestra. The Mission Santa Clara provides an ideal setting to experience this intimate and sublime retelling of the Passion of Christ.
